Where is the school located?

All our classes are held in Hillsdale, New Jersey at the St. John’s Academy School.

How do I register for classes?

If you have questions, please contact GLSW Principal Frau Christine Gehres by clicking here or by calling 201-825-9770. Check back in May for our Early Bird registration for next school year.

How much do you charge for classes?

Our tuition fee for the current year is maintained at the end of our registration page.

What's the average class size?

Our average class size is 8-12 students.

Which days of the week do you offer classes?

We offer adults classes on Thursdays and Saturdays and children's classes on Saturdays.

Do I need to have any knowledge of German in order to sign up?

You do not need to have any background in German! We offer classes for children and adults, beginner through advanced levels.

Do you have classes for pre-school aged children?

We offer a “Mommy, Daddy and Me" class for ages 1 ½ – 3 years (child and adult attend) and Pre-K class for ages 4 (only child attends).

Who teaches the classes?

All our classes are taught by a highly motivated teaching staff with advanced degrees, long time teaching experience and native fluency in German.

How long are your courses?

Our academic year runs from September to May. Each course consists of 30 weekly sessions, 2 hours in length (except for Mommy, Daddy and Me course length of 1.5 hours).

How can I sign up to volunteer at the school?

Typically parents of students and adults students are asked to volunteer twice a year for various needs. Some include: hallyway monitor, book sale or booth, set up/clean up for a school-wide holiday or event, etc.

How can I contribute a monetary donation?

What materials do I need to buy or bring to my course?

This varies depending on the course. Some classes require obtaining a workbook forthe class, others don’t. Check in with the course instructor or contact the school by clicking the link below.

What precautions are being taken during the Covid-19 pandemic?

Due to the various state and St. John’s Academy (SJA) health and safety regulations related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, German language instruction will begin and remain VIRTUAL until further notice for the school year of 2020-2021. Should any developments occur that would change these current plans (to allow in-person instruction), GLSW will comply to those changes as well and inform students and families of these changes
