Fasching/Carnival
Saturday 22nd Feb at GLSW

Dear students, parents and guardians,

We will have Fasching – German Style - with music, dance, games and prizes on Saturday, February 22nd 2020 from 11.30 am to 3PM in the Gym of Saint John’s Academy.  Parents will have to supervise their children during that time.

We will have regular classes on that day. There will be lunch in the Cafeteria from 12 noon to 2 pm so we can accommodate all, including our adult classes with food, as well as enjoying the Fasching celebration.

All are invited to come to school in costume. There will be a best costume contest.

We want to make this a big Fasching event for all, including our adult students. GLSW will provide traditional “Berliner”, juice, water, coffee and tea, as well as Würstchen. We ask that families and adult students drop off a salad or healthy snack/sides or dessert in the cafeteria in the am.

To help defray some of our costs, there will be a box to collect voluntary donations

In the past, parents, especially of the younger children, have provided games, but everybody is welcome to do so. Please let Frau Gehres  principal-glsw@optimum.net know what game(s) you are able to provide for the event and bring them to school on Saturday. If you have a special talent (e.g. face painting) and would like to add this to our activities for the event, you are most welcome.

We need volunteers to supervise game booths in shifts – and help with set-up and clean-up. Please email principal-glsw@optimum.net . Frau Simone Daeschner is co-ordinating this event as a parent volunteer – many thanks Simone!!!  Volunteers are still needed from 11.30 to 3 PM for the actual event (several shifts – state what time you can be available to help) for game supervision and food service, and 3PM to 4PM for clean-up.  This is the first time that we have the space and opportunity to make this a big event, in addition to having regular classes. It is also an opportunity for all students and families to participate in our school life who cannot do so on a regular basis, and meet others.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Sincerely,

Principal and Board of the German Language School Westwood
